Will Sparks X Maddix, Mangalam Review

Will Sparks X Maddix, Mangalam Review

By: Griff Stevens

Recently, two DJ-producers came together to create and epic single of hard-hitting progressive sounds.  Filled with heavy-hitting drums and booming basslines with a focus on tribal rhythm titled “Mangalam.” This is Sparks first collaboration with emerging DJ Maddix.  Maddix, has worked with Hardwell on collaborative “Smash This Beat” and “Bella Ciao” singles. Sparks first became well-known as a leader in the Melbourne bounce genre and this influence can be heard in the collaborative effort between the two DJs.  “Mangalam” is a word that signifies good fortune in Sanskrit, an aptly titled name for this hot new track.

“Mangalam” is a heavyweight track of progressive electronica that brings world sounds to the dance floor. The progressive house and trance sounds build and swell their way through the progressive set of feels, rise and falls. The tune invites energy in a psy-trance and big room style. KSHMR-delivers the vocals as Sparks and Maddix bring all the production sounds that we have grown to expect that creates a setting that is a festival of dropping and building energy. “Mangalam” has world flavor that is created by KSHMR’s vocals and exotic scaled melody. The acoustic instruments are nice touch and have a world flavor that ticks all the right boxes. The swirls and synths build and develop the melody, but the rhythm is the key and Sparks and Maddix bring it and then some!

Together Sparks and Maddix have created a deeply intense track. The production is high value, with searing basslines, heavy kick drums and a tribal flavor that pumps. The tracks is simply irresistible. The collaboration between the two DJs, brings out their equal strengths. “Mangalam,” is a clear win and a welcomed sound. Highly recommended.
